Description

If you enjoy competitive racing in front of huge crowds then the SEAT Cupra Championship is for you!

If you enjoy competitive racing in front of huge crowds then you should consider the SEAT Cupra Championship. Tight technical control and massive support from SEAT mean it costs less than you may think and the on-event support of SEAT Sport UK gives everyone the opportunity to demonstrate their skill on a level playing field. The regulations are focused on keeping the racing clean and tight controls mean that family teams can compete with more established teams on an equal footing, in 2006 Mat Jackson won in exactly this way!

Whether you are looking to progress to the BTCC or simply enjoy racing on a big stage, the BLUAPUNKT SEAT Cupra Championship has much to offer. The Championship is contested at each of the 10 TOCA meetings with 2 rounds at each event (20 rounds in total). The weekend starts with a test day (usually on the Friday) and then two dedicated qualifying sessions on the Saturday.

For 2008 we have reduced the registration fee and changed the race by race prize fund to allow more drivers benefit from the £250k prize fund! SEAT UK has continued to support British motor sport with a £250,000 prize fund. This will be allocated as follows:

With an exclusive hospitality unit, sponsors, guests and VIP's can enjoy a behind-the-scenes day that is simply not possible at most sporting events. Being part of the TOCA support package the SEAT Cupra Championship enjoys huge crowds (over 280,000 in 2006!) and in 2007 live TV coverage on Setanta Sports as well as a highlights package on ITV1 and Men & Motors. In 2006 (the most recent figure we have), through the ITV1 show Motorsport UK, the Championship was seen by over 5 ½ million viewers with the live coverage adding more to the total.

In 2008 the Championship will be solely for the massively fast New Leon race car. The car is similar to its big brother, the BTCC Leon. With 300hp – 50 more than its predecessor and more than the BTCC Leon – a paddle shift, sequential gearbox and a full length aerodynamic flat floor, the New Leon is a formidable race car. The agile and responsive nature of the BTCC chassis is retained resulting in masses of feedback and a hugely focused saloon racer.

As many great driver know taking the next step in motor sport is about more than talent, but SEAT helps its drivers here too – with the largest prize fund in British motor sport. Further helping the career minded competitors, the top drivers win the opportunity to demonstrate their potential at the pinnacle of British saloon car racing, with a test with the SEAT Sport UK team.

In 2008 the Championship has the flexibility of 3 different methods of registration, an all inclusive package – with access to the Friday test sessions, a 'one off' event-by-event entry and also a qualifying and racing only package.
