Following on from Roadsport-B with the same car, stripped of lights & screen, and fitted with race springs/dampers, making it more of a pure racing machine. Team support allowed.
The third rung on the Caterham Motorsport ladder, continues use an upgraded Academy car. This enables former Academy drivers to continue onwards and upwards for a third year, with increased performance – or for more experienced drivers to enter in a cost effective way.
The Roadsport-A takes the Roadsport-B car (upgraded from Academy), fitted with wide-track suspension, race springs and dampers, and with the lights and windscreen removed. These changes drop the lap times by 2-3 seconds. The car can easily be converted back to being road-legal between rounds.
As with all Caterham racing, the tight technical regulations ensure a level playing field of cars.
Race meetings are all double-header rounds of 30 minute races, although the popularity of the series has meant that during '07, some rounds are 3x20 minute races to enable all the cars to compete against each other!
This is the first level at which team support is allowed, for those that prefer to just arrive and drive.
