After using the first two races of the 2008 VSR series season as a testing bed to prove that 5.7ltr V8 Chevy powerd Ascar's can be used in anger.
Running now only on circuits we exceeded our own expectations and proved without a shadow of a doubt that not only can they be used in anger they can win and put on one hellava show along with the VSR series cars.
The V8 Trophy has joined the VSR grid and along with thier cars an awsome amount of power will be on display at the following venues.
Snetterton X 2, Brands Hatch x 2 and 1 x Pembrey, Croix-en-Ternios, Mallory Park and Lydden plus a special 3 day Event at the Farnbough Air Show.
The Photo above of Colin White's # 78 car not only shows the first time a car has been fully airborne at Cadwell Park in a while but also show's our Oval days are over and long forgotten as racing these cars on circuits is much more fun than even Colin expected.
Using Hoosier tyres the car has grip a plenty, allows the car to powerslide and is very forgiving whilst giving good rates of tyre wear. Colin had the tyres lit up all the way up the mountain at Cadwell but never felt out of control, Rob Compton said of his run at Cadwell " I just could not believe how much fun it was and how well the cars went around here, roll on Brands in June and Lydden at the end of May"
Changing the cars, which are available for around £12,000 or less will need to be converted, the conversion takes on a number of jobs on the car and a conversion pack is now in place, watching the V8's move around a circuit the changes have made the cars more OZ V8 than Nascar now but can be easily changed back to an Oval set up if needed in the future, the aim is to keep the changes as cost effective as possible but allow them to change back to an Oval set up with no cost at all.
Series and race costs are
Registration £1100 +vat which includes a set of wet tyres
Race entry £250 per meeting
Tyres are £125 + vat each, max of 4 per meeting and they look like they will last at least 2 meetings.
100 ltrs of fuel on average with Millers CVL allowed protecting the engine.
Change of oils after every meeting will look after your V8, nobody has had an engine rebuild in the last 3 seasons, Colin's has not been done in 4 years !!!! The engines seem to be bullet proof and get quicker as they loosen up, being restricted to 6500 rpm they are never overstressed and lastly they sound Gorgeous !!!!!
The cars are all the same under the body shell allowing cost effective parts prices, the bodies are of 3 types, Ford, Chevrolet and Pontiac.
So if you are looking to race a 460 bhp rear wheeled fun loving race car that sound's like a race car, which goes like a race car, handles like a race car and above all does not cost an arm and a leg then why look any further?
Thank you, I rest my case your honour.
