DescriptionThis superb illustrated reference book,is written by Douglas Armstrong, the then editor of Sports Car Illustrated and published by Macdonald in 1958.I believe it is number 562 of the original print run.
It is a fascinating and invaluable guide to the history, development and exact technical specification of F1,F2,F3,USAC,Sports Racing and High Performance cars of the time.
It has 208 pages, with 94 superb black and white plates. The forword is written and signed by Mike Hawthorn. Each succeeding page has details of the background, race history, development, drivers and full technical specification of each car, with contemporary plate facing. Some of the cars featured can still be seen racing, others have passed into history, along with their makers.Cars such as the Vanwall,TATRA,HANSA,Tojeiro,Frazer Nash,Maserati etc.etc.
The book is 19cm x 12.5cm x 2cm thick. It is in very good condition -spine undamaged, there are a few marks and some fading on the green hard covers.A small amount of library damp has affected the edges of pages 196-208,plates and text are unaffected.
This rare 49 year old book,is invaluable to serious researchers and keen historians alike,or just to read about and look at cars of 50 years ago.I have owned it from new. Please ask me any questions.
I will post worldwide, please ask for postal quote.
