1085A is a Sbarro chassis, and although famed as builders of exact replicas sadly, not an original.
Franco Sbarro was probably the man who knows the best about Ford GT 40, having participated to its elaboration at the Ford Advanced Vehicle in the USA and having been the chief mechanic of the Filipinetti Racing Team, and in charge of the GT 40s.
Car 1085A was sold new in 1990 to Rene Herzog, one of two Sbarro chassis he bought at that time. Both cars were built up for him by Bryan Wingfield. Rene raced them both over the next couple of years, FIA homologation papers were issued in late 1990.
Car 1085A was sold by Gregor Fisken in the late 1990s to Alcides Diniz it was Guernsey registered, and ran on the Tour Auto in 2001.
The car was then shipped to the Brazilian collector who kept the car at his private race track facility where it has been stored and raced, (also driven by Pedro Diniz F1 driver) until our recent purchase.
Powered by a Ford Guerney Westlake engine 5.0.
